Like a Tree Planted

by Linda Killian on 05/04/12

Psalm 1: 3

And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everthing he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].

Who is the, "firmly planted man?"  Well, verses 1 and 2 state, "it's the man who does NOT walk, sits, or fellowships with  the wicked, but one who delights, and who's desires are in the Law of the Lord (his precepts, instructions, teachings)."

If our roots drink in the water (Christ), then we take Christ into ourselves...we take His nature.  He produces healthy leaves and fruit that will last.

It doesn't mean that the tree will never sway back and forth with the wind, but the tree doesn't break during the wind because it's root system is strong and matured.

Yes, we know the storms come, but God works all things for the good of those who love Him; who are called according to His purpose. So there will be winds of trials and testings, but remember who is Lord over the wind.

God is not out to break you, He's out to make you!

So, stand tall today, "Oh tree that is planted by God."  Drink in His Word, let Him produce His "Christlike" character in you, and go feed the world from your tree.

The Lord Our Refiner

by Linda Killian on 04/17/12

In 1 Peter 2:9, we are told "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Did you ever look at yourself as a priest?  Quite a picture, isn't it?  I think of the Levitical Priest of the Old Testament when I get a mental picture of a "Priest", but here we are told that we are His Priest, and chosen by Him!

Marcy Little sent me an email today of something she had read in Malachi.  It referenced Chapter 3 and the "Day of Judgment."   It describes in verse 3, "Who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For He will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, he will purify the Levities and refine them like gold and silver.

What is a refiner of fire and purifier of silver and gold?

If you have ever watched a silversmith, you will find him doing this task:

First, the silversmith will hold a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up.  That is refining silver.  He must hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flame is hottest in order to burn away all the impurities.  That is the purifying process.  But, then he must sit in front of the fire, holding the silver the entire time its being refined. And, not only does he sit there physically holding it, but he must keep his eyes on the silver the whole time its in the fire. Why? Because if the silver was left in the flames even a moment too long, it would be destroyed.  So, "How does the silversmith know when the silver is fully refined?"  If you asked a silversmith that question, he would probably say,  "Thats the easy part, its when I see my image reflected in it."

Ever feel like you are being refined?  Held to the flames?  Me too.   But then, do you remember experiencing something so devastating or traumatic in your life that you thought you were going to die, only to find He was with you the entire time, brought you out of the situation and created a part of Himself in you that can never be shaken, destroyed, or stolen from you?  Yea, that's what our God does.  He loves His Priest so much that He never lets the flames get too hot, nor the trial overtake you.

So, the next time we tell God, "This trial is too difficult" or ask "Where are you God?"   We can rest in the fact that His hands are on us and he is watching the flames looking for a little more of His reflection..

It's We not Me!!

by Linda Killian on 03/24/12

For the past few weeks, Pastor Scott, has been preaching on "We, Not Me."   I was thinking how as children we are born selfish and no one ever taught us how to be that way.  Just watch two toddler playing together; they always want whatever the other one is playing with.

As we grow, we are taught to love, give, share, be thoughtful, and kind, but it's so easy, as adults, to slip right back into the role of "Me".....

I was reading Matthew Chapter 20 today and came across the story that Pastor mentioned Wednesday night; of the mother of James and John, asking Jesus if her boys could sit on His right and His left when He comes into His Kingdom.

Jesus replied,  "My left and my right are not mine to give, but they are for those for whom have been ordained and prepared by My Father."

Jesus then gives the "We not Me" description in Verse 26 when He says, "Whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant,

Well, none of them pulled up a stool and started washing feet, did they?
In this world that statement seem's upside down, but Kingdom Living is simply that!

Jesus, then goes on to say in verse 27) And whoever desires to be first among you must be your slave. 28) Just as the Son of Man came not to be waited on, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [the price paid to set them free].

Jesus, left His position in heaven, to serve us with the sacrifice of His life and trade our nothing for His everything.

It isn't about me or you! it's about us, as a family.  Serving one another as Christ served in everything He did.  He had every right to be treated like the King He was, but that was not his mission..   He obeyed His Father.  I'm so glad He did, aren't you?

Laying down your agenda to meet the need of your fellow Christian brother or sister, giving of your time, talking to one who is in trouble, not judging, compassion, caring, keeping confidences, praying for them.  These are traits of being Christ like.   Is it easy?  If it were, this world would be a perfect place.  Our flesh cries out for the opposite, but Jesus say's look at Him, He is our example.
Dear Father,
May we keep our eyes on you, may we learn from Your Word, strip away my flesh daily so that I can serve you, give you honor, and bring many into the Kingdom.  Amen .

Blessings,
Linda

Prayer

by Linda Killian on 02/28/12

What a gift we have been given to have access to the "Throne of God" in prayer.

There is hardly a day that goes by that we aren't asked to pray for someone we know and even those's we don't, but what a privilege, honor, and gift, God, has opened to us in the avenue of prayer.

We find, Jesus "withdrew to the wilderness to pray."   We see His disciples asking Him, "Lord, teach us how to pray", and from that request we were all given a complete, perfect prayer in what we know as  "The Lords Prayer."

What has so inspired me today, is the prayers, Jesus, prayed in John 17 and 18.   Jesus, prayed first to The Father, then for His disciples, then, Jesus, prayed for us....yes, you and me!  Before we knew Him, He prayed for us and prayed many times that we would be "one", and perfectly united.

John 18:20 - 23 says;  Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for these disciples sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in Me through their word and teaching.  21) that they all may be one, just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that you have sent Me.  22) I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one [even] as We are one: 23) I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.

Isn't that a wonderful prayer?   A prayer for you and me before we were even born. Why?  Because He first loved us, gave us the gift of His Son, Jesus, abounding in grace, and the gift of The Holy Spirit....

Pretty awesome, but then, we have and Awesome God, One who wants to hear from you, not in eloquent prayers, but ones from your heart to His...   Talk to Him as His friend.  He never sleeps nor slumbers so when He wakes you in the night hours, He's listening, waiting, ready to answer, deliver, and save.

Oh, Lord, how divine
You prayed for me before I knew anything of time

Your Love for me has drawn me near
Your strong arm of protection; whom shall I fear?

You guide me along life's long and rocky road
You are always with me, so I'll never be alone

I in You, and You, in me
May the world see that "perfect unity"

And in the House of NC3
Make us "one" and never just a, "me"

Be Blessed

God's Love

by Linda Killian on 02/14/12

Today is the day we celebrate "Valentines Day."

We think of Love, Hearts, and yes, Chocolate!

The best the world can do is man's love, but even that love is not always an enduring love...our divorce rate proves that, but there is a LOVE that is far greater, and so worthy of our praise.

That Love is known as, "The Love of God."  John 3:16 is a verse that we can all quote by memory, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

The Old Covenant had a total of 613 Laws the people had to keep. Can you imagine trying to keep all of those laws?  We can't even keep the Ten we know.  I find it a wonderful realization that if you take that number, 613, and reverse it as 3:16, it's the verse above in John that forever changed the Law that kills and replaced it with the work Christ, completed for us on the cross.

All we need to do is believe it, accept Him as our Lord and Savior, and He then writes our names in the Lambs Book of Life; and I must say, I've never found an eraser mentioned in God's Word. We are sealed in Him forever.

The Law tells us we are not ever going to make it, we can never be good enough, we keep failing!!   But, God, says, "We are the righteousness of Christ." Amen!

Just remember, God came after you! You are His planned Masterpiece!  Isn't that wonderful?  So today, meditate on His Love.  He's crazy about you!!!

Blessings,

Linda

Seed

by Linda Killian on 01/26/12

I have a bird feeder that hangs off  of my deck.  It's in full view of the den and can be quite entertaining at times.  I watch different types of birds with different personalities coming to feed.   All I need to do is fill the feeder with seed.  I don't need to ring a bell or make an announcement, they all come and feed, it's free!

What I find fascinating is how they feed.

The Sparrows sit in the trees. As if to say, "I'll wait until everyone else gets their seed, then I'll go, after all, I don't want to get too noticed or too involved."  When they see their chance, they grab it and go.

Now, the finches give such beautiful color around the feeder, but they always come in groups. They are like, "Let all go get our seed together, and not socialize with those other birds. They don't have the bright colors we have. We are so gifted!"

Then there are the Cardinals....wow!   The male is bright red, while the females are brown with just a touch of red, but you talk about aggressive!  I watched one today that chased all the other birds away.  She didn't even feed, she just wanted to peek around the sides of the feeder and when she saw another bird, she would chase it off.  Her mate came and he did the same thing, as if to say,  "If you want to get anything in this world, you better take it. Step on whoever you have to, but make sure you get yours!"

Then there is a Woodpecker that comes every now and then.  I saw him this morning.  He's a smaller one with a bright orange/redhead with white wings and black stripes....just beautiful.  NO other birds come when he's feeding....kind of like, "I don't need anybody, don't want anybody.  I'll come and get this seed when I've got nothing better to fill my needs!"

The swallows don't have a lot of color, but they are happy little birds that hop around on the railing and then very quickly, dart for the seed, grab it, and take off....kind of like, "I know what I'm after, it's seed to feed me, and my family.  I don't have time for all the silly stuff....I just want to be fed."

My feeder has a protector bar around it.  If the bird is too heavy, the bar moves down and all of the little feeding holes close.  This keeps the predators away, like crows and hawks that rob the babies from their nest in the Spring.  These birds act like they belong, but in reality, they are here to kill, steal, and destroy!

God knows when a sparrow falls from the sky, He has provided for His creation; that includes us!   He has given us the seed of His Word to be eaten and deposited in our spirit, to grow and produce a crop of more disciples for Christ.  He has appointed Pastors, to watch over us as we feed on His seed so the enemy will find a closed door when he tries to feed on us..

Get the picture?   Then come daily to His Word, get your free seed and be filled, grow, and fly!

Checking the Weather Forecast

by Linda Killian on 12/31/11

Living in the 'Great Smoky Mountains' I am always checking the weather.  A site called "Rays Weather" is the most reliable and accurate source here, so it's important during the winter months to know what's headed my way.  I call it, "Linda, being smart and being prepared."

I look at the seven day forecast and prepare my week around it.  When Ray says, "Heavy Snow," I had better take action and purchase not only food to make it through, but I need to get items I would not normally purchase since there is a high likelihood I'll lose electricity.  This means I'll need to purchase water, make sure my flashlight has some batteries, candles on hand for the dark rooms in the house, and I'll need food that has pop top lids, plus food's that don't require cooking like bread, peanut butter.

You know, the Christian life can be like a weather forecast.   What is my week going to look like?   My best, and only reliable forecast site, is the "Word of God."  When I go to God's Word, He tells me how to be prepared.  He tells me Who's I am, gives me instructions for those "outage" times in my life, how to live in His victory, and how I am to love and treat others.

What is your forecast this week?  Will you chose to be the "SON" to those around you?  Will you chose to shine the "LIGHT of the WORLD" on those around you?  Will you chose to speak LIFE, JOY and PEACE into the lives of those who are going through the dark clouds of life? Will you chose to rule and reign over your flesh that screams for it's way?

And when God has orchestrated some storm clouds in your own life, to accomplish His good and perfect Will, will you chose to do what Paul said,  and rejoice in trials, and praise Him for the Victory to come?

We have a Pastor and a people in this house who are faithful to lift you up in prayer and stand with you as you move 4Word in the destiny HE wrote for you before the earth was formed.

2012 .... A year of Government ..............  If your forecast has had too many rainy days....lets chose to change it together and get ready for the greatest year of our lives..as we chose to rule over our flesh in governmental authority.

Remember, He has already won, therefore; so have we!

Are you ready????? RECORD SNOW FOR 2012
For 2012 I mean. Or are you filled with fear and dread like most of the world.

I am here to convey to you hope and excitement for the NEW YEAR. The number 12 means the government of God. He is ushering in the Kingdom of God. God is up to some great things and He wants us to be a part of it. I want to be right in the  middle of what he is doing and I am determined to be. Are you?

I believe that when the snows begin to fall that the rest comes. Rest in Him beloved, rest and wait in anticipation for what He is doing and going to do for His church. Walk in anticipation for what He is doing in the spirit realm, watch for the snow rest in the meaning of snow. Quietness, peace, tranquility, refreshing, anticipation of the renewing of the earth and all those in Him. I know that the true shift of the Spirit realm is here it is finally here. Hallelujah to the Lord.

I believe that the Lord has empowered us to do great things and usher in the Kingdom of God in our own spheres of influence. On our jobs, in our families and in our communities.  For some He has called to the nations the natural governments that are in place. Some to the courts of the nations. Wherever he has called you to assert His authority, the power is already in you, let Him use you. He has placed within us all power and authority. Are you going to rise up in your spirit and exercise that that is within you or are you going to let it lay dormant. When the sun (son) rises on the snow it begins to melt and shake the earth and all the seeds that are within it to grow and break forth. Break forth people it is time to take the earth and all that is within it back. It belongs to us. That means all things, not just what Satan allows us to have. Don't be complaisant, don't be lazy rise up warriors of the most High.

I never thought that I would hear myself say this but, bring on the BLIZZARD OF 2012.....

Into His Heart,

He is Here

by Linda Killian on 12/03/11

The month of December is such a busy time.  We have decorating to do, parties to attend, gifts to purchase, cards to send, and the end of the year always brings an abundance of taxes that are due.

Some two thousand years ago, there in Bethlehem, a man and woman traveled to pay their taxes also, but along the way a baby was born.  Not just any baby, but One who was the perfect Lamb of God.

God announced this birth to the shepherds first with a heavenly army, a knighthood of thousands, singing and praising God.  All of heaven rejoiced as the "Savior" was finally born.

Then, God, announced this birth to the Wise Men, or Kings from another land, by placing a bright star in the night sky to lead them to Bethlehem to worship Him, and honor Him with gifts.

I often thought God made this announcement to the shepherds first to show He has come for the lowly, because being a shepherd was the lowest job, and I thought He called the Three Kings to come, to show He came for the highest in wealth and position, but as I have been reading the recordings of Luke, I believe He is showing us who He is.  He is the Good Shepherd and He is The King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  He did come for all classes and race, but he was showing us Himself.

As you worship the Lamb of God, Our Good Shepherd, Our King of Kings and Lord of Lords, enjoy all that He is to you this Christmas Season and rejoice at all He has placed within you that you are yet to discover.  He is faithful to complete it.

May God's Blessings flow in your life and spill out of you and on to others as you Worship HIM...

HEAR THE TRUMPET OF GOD SOUND......

A few years ago, I was driving home not really thinking about anything particular. In fact, I was tired from a long day. Suddenly I heard the Lord say....
Blow the trumpet, blow the trumpet, do you hear the sound, the sound of the trumpet? Tell everyone it is time to wake up. I pulled off on the side of the road and just sat there taking it all in, what I had just heard. Immediately the old song that we used to sing came out of my mouth....it goes like this sing along if you know it.

Blow the trumpet in Zion,Zion
Sound the alarm on my Holy mountain
Blow the trumpet in Zion,Zion
Sound the Alarm.....

We are definitely in the trumpet sounding time. The trumpets sounding in the media are not good. People that we choose to be around and listen to are not always good trumpets to listen to.
Choose wisely which trumpet you listen to. With all that is going on around us and especially in us....Cry out Judah....Blow your trumpet, displace all the negativity around you. Pastor has been blowing his trumpet and sounding the alarm, are you listening, pondering it or are you just sitting there doing nothing with what is being blared right at you. Your choice at this time. God holds you accountable with what you do with what you hear.
Now is the time to praise Him for all things not just the good things but all things.
Get yourself up and praise Him, sound the alarm. Open your mouth and shout, bring down the walls that are keeping you held captive.
In Joshua 6:9 Joshua commanded the people to blow the trumpets. The sound confounds the enemy. Praise goes up and the glory comes down. The Father stops all that He is doing and  listens to His children praise Him. That is more than I can comprehend completely.

So, it is up to you, are you going to sit there and be defeated or are you going to wake up and blow your trumpet..........scatter the enemy today.
Into His Heart,
Carol Hartsoe
